Terms of Service

1. Eligibility & Age Restriction

The College Date is strictly intended for adult university and tertiary institution students who are at least eighteen (18) years of age. By creating an account or using the service, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old, possess the legal capacity to enter into this contract, and have never been convicted of a felony, sexual offense, or violence crime.

2. Community Standards & User Conduct

You agree to treat all campus peers with dignity, respect, and consent. You may not:

• Harass, stalk, threaten, bully, defame, or intimidate any student or member of the community.
• Impersonate another individual, coursemate, university official, or organization.
• Upload, share, or request non-consensual intimate imagery, pornography, or sexually explicit material.
• Exploit minors, solicit minors, or upload Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). Immediate permanent bans and law enforcement referrals apply.
• Engage in romance scams, fraudulent financial solicitation, academic dishonesty, or commercial sex work.
• Capture, screenshot, record, or redistribute private disappearing media ("View Once" photos) or private calls without affirmative mutual consent.
• Scrape data, reverse engineer, or deploy automated bots to access the service.

3. User Content & Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of the photos, bio text, and messages you submit ("User Content"). You grant The College Date a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, store, display, and format your User Content solely for operating, promoting, and improving the service. We reserve the absolute right to monitor, review, filter, and remove any content that violates these Terms or applicable law.

4. Virtual Currency (CD Coins) & In-App Purchases

The College Date provides virtual currency ("CD Coins") and digital gifts that users may acquire through wallet funds, Google Play In-App Billing, or Paystack:

• No Cash Value: CD Coins and virtual gifts are limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable digital licenses solely for entertainment and social engagement within the app. They do not constitute personal property, have zero monetary value, and cannot be redeemed for fiat currency.
• Non-Refundable: All coin purchases and virtual gift transmissions are final, non-refundable, and non-cancellable once executed, subject only to mandatory statutory consumer rights under applicable app store rules.

5. Peer-to-Peer Marketplace & Escrow Terms

The College Date enables verified students to offer legitimate campus services (such as tutoring, tech assistance, hair styling, or event support) via Service Deals:

• Venue Only: The College Date provides marketplace matching and escrow software tools only. We are not an employer, contractor, partner, or joint venturer of any student. Students operate as independent parties.
• Prohibited Services: Commercial sexual services, prostitution, illegal substances, sale of exam answers/leakage, and academic impersonation are strictly prohibited.
• Escrow Protection & Fund Release: Buyers pre-fund escrow securely. Funds are held in trust and only credited to the provider's wallet when the buyer enters the verified 4-digit Service Completion PIN or upon confirmed dispute arbitration.

6. Campus Ambassador Earnings ("College Date Active")

The College Date Active retention program rewards eligible verified female campus ambassadors for daily authentic community engagement. Earnings are calculated based on verifiable discovery swipes, meaningful chat conversations, and monthly streak maintenance. The platform reserves the right to withhold rewards, audit activity logs, and disqualify accounts exhibiting artificial automation, bot scripts, or policy-violating conduct.

7. Subscriptions & Premium Upgrades

Premium features (including Unlimited Swipes, Profile Boosts, and Extended Voice Call Quotas) may be purchased via Google Play Subscriptions or Paystack. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the end of the billing cycle through your Google Play Store or account settings.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability

The College Date is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not conduct criminal background checks on users and do not guarantee safety or compatibility. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, The College Date, its directors, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the service, interactions with other students, or offline dates.

9. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to your use of The College Date shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to this contract shall be settled by binding arbitration in Lagos State, Nigeria, in accordance with the Nigerian Arbitration and Mediation Act, 2023 (AMA). The courts of Lagos State or the Federal High Court of Nigeria shall have jurisdiction over enforcement of arbitral awards.

10. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When material changes occur, we will notify you through the app or by requiring affirmative re-acceptance. Your continued use of the service following such notice constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
